Not Just a Pool: Designing for Water, Views & Flow

A pool is often the centerpiece of a luxury Arizona backyard.

But a truly great pool doesn’t start with a fiberglass shell or stamped concrete edge - it starts with design. At Shearon Design Collective, we approach pools as an extension of the home’s architecture, sightlines, and lifestyle.

Here’s how we design pools that do more than just cool you off—they connect, ground, and inspire.

Designed for Alignment & Axis

Sweeping Camelback Views in Paradise Valley

In this Paradise Valley home, the pool wasn’t just added—it was placed with intention. Its central axis aligns perfectly with the architectural lines of the home, drawing your eye out toward the views and framing the experience of the space.

When pools are thoughtfully aligned with the home’s architecture, they become part of the design—not an afterthought.

Reflection, Movement & Materials

Outdoor Escape in Storyrock - Sunken Firepit, Pool with Swim-up Cabana Bar

Material selection, water movement, and reflectivity all influence how a pool feels.

This rear yard was designed with clean edges, subtle water weirs, and complementary materials to create a sense of order and calm—even when lit at night with fire features glowing in reflection.

Family-Centered, Still Elevated

Contemporary Outdoor Escape in Scottsdale with Spa, Outdoor Bar & Luxury Waterfall

This was a family-focused yard, but it didn’t mean compromising on style or the ability to entertain with an exciting space.

We integrated a large turf area, outdoor kitchen, and a pool with a Baja shelf—perfect for young children and loungers alike—into a layout that still feels composed and elevated.

Framed by Nature

Modern Estate Chic Elegance with Pool, Play Space & Sculpted Landscape in Arcadia

Rather than dominate the yard, this pool is wrapped in greenery and softened edges, creating a tranquil retreat tucked into the flow of the broader landscape. Positioning was critical to preserve shade and views, while transitions into seating and plant zones offer natural breaks in the experience.

Designed by a Studio, Built by a Pro

We lead the design process from the very beginning, shaping how the pool connects to your home, hardscape, and landscape.

Our team creates the overall site plan, sets the layout, defines the materials, and ensures the pool integrates seamlessly with the architecture, grading, and broader outdoor living program.

By handling this critical front-end work, we eliminate the disjointed feeling that often happens when pool design is driven purely by installation logistics. Instead, we collaborate with skilled pool contractors to ensure your finished result reflects the original vision—with clarity and cohesion.

Our goal is always the same: to deliver a pool and outdoor space that feels like one unified, custom experience—not a collection of parts.

Looking to Add a Pool? Start With Design

Designing a pool is about more than dimensions and depths. It’s about how water, space, and structure interact to elevate how you live outside.

Whether you're building new or remodeling an existing yard, our team can guide you through the design process—from concepts to construction documents to builder collaboration.
